6 Brands That Are Genuinely Good For You and the environment

English version only.

I am getting more conscious about the environment and what I am putting inside and outside my body.

I rarely eat meat, for different reasons, I buy organic when possible, read labels and ingredients of my beauty products and try to reduce waste. This is a huge subject that I can’t even think to cover in a single blog post but I would like to introduce the topic while sharing some of the products I have found and used for a while. All of them have a good brand ethic that I agree with.

Do you have any brand or product to recommend me that you think should be added to this list?

Disclaimer: This is NOT a sponsored post and the products here are chosen according to my preferences. Almost all of them have an online shop with worldwide shipping available.

REN – Atlantic Kelp And Magnesium Anti-Fatigue Body Wash

I have been using the  Atlantic Kelp And Magnesium Anti-Fatigue Bath Oil for ages and the Essential Oils blend helps me relax so much!
Today I just want to introduce you to their award-winning Atlantic Kelp And Magnesium Anti-Fatigue Body Wash which has a pioneering 100% recycled bottle, with 20% reclaimed ocean plastic collected by global NGO’s from oceans, beaches, rivers, lakes and the banks of those waterways.

REN teamed up with recycling innovator Terracycle to create the new bottle.

This range was fittingly chosen for the pilot ocean plastics program as it’s formulated with bio-actives, sustainably sourced from the ocean.

I hope other brands in the industry will follow suit.

TROPIC – CLARIFYING HAIR WASH

I am a fan of Tropic’s Lip fudge since ever, it smells so amazing that you want to eat it and really makes your lips soft and nourished.

Just before Summer, Tropic launched its first haircare range and since then, I have tried both hair washes and the radiance oil.

All the products are really good but my winning one is the Clarifying Hair Wash formulated to deliver healthy hair by gently cleansing and boasting pH-balancing properties that reduce irritation, itchiness and dandruff, making it the natural choice for those with sensitive scalps like mine.

Moreover, it only uses natural and biodegradable ingredients, giving you peace of mind that you’re being kind to the environment too.
Tropic is a certified cruelty-free and vegan brand.

Eat Your Hat- Chocolate

Eat Your Hat is on a mission to make incomparably delicious things out of sustainably-grown, organic ingredients that transform lives.

They only use fair trade ingredients and they are fair to the planet, too.
Good soil means healthy food year in and year out and they promised they will never use nasty GMOs.
Even the gold film that hugs the chocolate bar is plant-based.

I have tried pretty much all of their chocolate bars but if you have to choose one try the unusual Organic Dark Chocolate
With Sri Lankan turmeric & black pepper, a rich dark chocolate (70% cocoa) infused with vibrant Sri Lankan turmeric and crushed black peppercorns.

Biofficina Toscana – Red berry make-up remover butter

Biofficina Toscana is a small, Italian certified eco-friendly organic cosmetic brand which joins innovation and craftsmanship with nature and science. Many of my friends have recommended it and, you know, the best marketing is always your friend’s opinions. 🙂

My favourite product from the range is this make-up remover butter which is great for a revitalising facial massage and in-depth removal of make-up.
It contains Rubiox®, an exclusive active ingredient made from red berries from the Tuscan hills and a balanced combination of organic vegetable oils.

Paperchase – Reusable Coffee Cups

Did you know that a shocking 100 billion single-use coffee cups go to landfill each year?

In a similar style to coffee cups you get from Starbucks and other shops, this cup made with natural bamboo fibre is an environmentally conscientious alternative to those disposable cups.
It’s also made to barista’s standards so it fits in the machine at your favourite coffee shop and will make you save money too.
Starbucks, Costa, Cafè Nero and many of the independents coffee shops in UK offer around 20-25p discount if you bring your own cup.

I bought one this Summer and works very well, just handle the cup carefully when is super hot.

S’well – Stainless Steel Drink Bottles

A reusable triple-walled steel bottle 100% BPA-free which makes it a safe, sustainable way to consume your favourite drinks on the go.

I have the White Marble design on my desk and I bring it with me everywhere.
I can also confirm that it really keeps beverages cold for up to 24 hours and hot for up to 12 (I was slightly skeptic about that :-))
It also comes in three sizes to cater to different thirst levels and thousand of beautiful designs.

BONUS: Recycle your clothes

At H&M group stores, which include H&M/Monki/& Other Stories, you can recycle your clothes, just ask for the garment-collecting box, often located next to the cash desks and you’ll get even rewarded with a voucher.

So far, they have collected more than 17,771 tonnes of textiles — the equivalent of 89 million T-shirts.
These garments are getting sort out into three categories:

· Rewear — clothing that can be worn again will be sold as second-hand clothes.

· Reuse — old clothes and textiles will be turned into other products, such as cleaning cloths.

· Recycle — everything else is turned into textile fibres and used for things like insulation.
